A day to myself

Sunday saw that I had a full day off from teaching yoga & from healing sessions. Of course there is always other work to be done. Like writing blog posts!

My intention for the day was to be ‘organic.’ There were a few things on my weekend to do list to be done before Monday. Important things like yoga invoices & availability for April needed sending out. I had my business coaching actions to complete for the fortnight too. The rest of the day would flow without me pushing or stressing.

The day started like most days do with a meditation. I signed up for The Wellness Project’s 21-day meditation program to add some new flavour to my sessions. Sunday’s track was a sixteen-minute mini Chakra balancing. The shortness of the meditation spurred me to invite my partner to join me in my healing room to listen too. I think we have meditated twice together in the past & it’s something he is open to but never does. It’s nice to share such activities & he happily joined in.

Green juice & a breakfast of organic Greek yoghurt & berries followed. All washed down with a pot of Yorkshire Tea.

Once my admin essentials were out the way I surrendered to my heart. Throughout the morning my Third Eye Chakra was buzzing like mad. This usually happens for two reasons:

Someone I know is thinking about me.
I’m about to have a creative Soul moment.

I felt both were going on as I received some online correspondence & I was tearing through my notebook scribbling down ideas.

A friend in NZ had had her second baby well over a week ago & I hadn’t had time to get online to find a gift. I didn’t want to rush & send something quickly without any thought. Sunday allowed me the time to really get involved & pick out a few very quirky gifts. Shopping & giving brings so much joy it was nice to really dedicate the time the activity deserved.

The day progressed with ease & slowness. Nothing was a chore or an effort. At lunch I took a break to eat & read. Currently I’m working my way through Claire Richards autobiography. I find real life stories fascinating. Through out the book there were loads of references to Claire’s time in the British pop group Steps. Being a Sunday & having loads of time I started to Google. I must have worked my way through at least an hour or two of music videos & interviews. Bringing back happy memories from my teenage years. I remember in 1998 my first year of university a girl in my halls knowing all the dance moves to ‘5,6,7,8.’

Last Monday I started an online blog course ‘Bright-Eyed & Blogged-Hearted’ with the ever-inspiring Rachel from In Spaces Between. I’ve been doing the course work in small sections all week. On Sunday I decided I’d like to finish it all up before Module 2 started the next day. I didn’t put the usual pressure on myself to get it done. I dipped in & out at my leisure. Most importantly I just enjoyed the whole process letting what I’d written sit for a few hours before returning to edit it.

Our BE & BH private FB group is electric. Over 300 like minded bloggers sharing, caring & supporting each other. I happily dipped in & out of convo’s with the ‘gals.’ Giving feedback on newly written or revamped ‘about me’ pages & vision boards.

One blog task took a lot of time. Trying to figure out how to get an ‘opt-in’ box for my newsletter in WordPress.com. The other WordPress (.org) has fancy plugin’s to do this. I watched the You Tube tutorials & scanned the help pages. Mail Chimp wrote me some code but it just wasn’t working. I have a ‘mend & make do’ option now in the side bar. I ignored the mundane tasks that needed attention. Like the laundry, cleaning & vacuuming. These tasks could wait till I’m tired & not creatively juiced up. What a waste to be rolling in the creative zone & be tied to the kitchen sink!

I really loved Sunday. By the time 5pm rolled around I was happy, enriched, inspired & content with my achievements for the day. A whole day of just flowing, doing things for love & joy instead of obligation.

Healing Session After Care

It came to my attention recently how much an energy healing really does not last for just the one-hour session. I’m always telling my clients that the healing energy they have just received will keep going for the next few days. The gateway if open & if there is more work to be done the energy will keep on working till it’s finished. If clients experience anything out the ordinary or have a release they don’t understand I advice them to call me for a chat.

My personal experience with this came after an amazing Crystal Bed healing. The session worked very deeply into some fairly old stuck emotions. The healer advised me to take it very easy over the next few days & really listen to my body. Rest if I need too & try to stay out of dense, negative environments.

It’s normal for me to go through a bit of a detox after a session, sometimes a physical clear out like a head cold occurs. This time I was a bit of an emotional sponge. I couldn’t avoid one job related situation that turned out to be quite stressful. I was still processing the healing energy from my session & could see why it was advised I lay low & rest up. The situation left me feeling really deflated & raw. The negativity stuck to me like metal filings to a magnet because I was so open. That said it didn’t ruin the effects of the session, it just made me more aware of the after care steps until my energy had come back to full strength.

Here are some after care tips to follow if you’ve received an energy healing such as Reiki, Kinesiology, reflexology or a massage.

Drink water – Fresh, filtered water & lots of it. Water will flush out any toxins & acts as a conductor to flow the healing energy through your body. Especially if you’re experiencing headaches or other detox symptoms.

Rest – Don’t push on too hard. If like me you had an emotional release take the time to allow these emotions to wash through & finally be gone. You may find you need more sleep, if so allow this to happen.

Meditate – Healing sessions open a channel to your inner guidance. This channel is the most clear & strong after a session take advantage of this & connect. Ask any questions you have & sit quietly for the answers.

Eat good food – Nourish your body with fresh, organic produce. Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, alcohol & sugar. High vibration food will raise your own vibration.

Move your body gently – Exercise is great for shifting energy blockages. However opt for slow & gentle styles such as Pilates, yoga or walking.

Avoid stressful situations – As I found out you may not be as strong energetically whilst you are processing the emotions from you session. Try to avoid large crowds, shopping centres, confronting situations, negative environments etc.

Healing sessions are just that, healing. Try not to throw yourself back into the old stressful routine. Sessions can assist you in finding a path to an easier & flowing life.

Taking the next step

This year is definitely going to be another year of accelerated growth for me I feel. Some days I wonder how I’m going to keep up with the pace & everything I wish to do. Back to my intention of ‘simplicity.’

One of my biggest challenges has been to surrender my control & let life unfold how it should be. Even when there is chaos all around the equal & opposite ‘calm’ is right there next to it. The universe knows what’s it doing & will unfold just how it should be even if this seems like total mayhem to us.

This year, as life is always for me, is about taking action! Way back when I started this adventure I desired to run holistic retreats. I had that idea eighteen months ago & haven’t actioned it. Granted I have been developing my skills, learning a lot in order to be at a place to run such an involved activity. At the end of last year I turned to my Angel Therapy oracle cards for some much needed guidance for the year ahead. I asked the cards ‘what modality should I be focusing my energy on this year?’ Below are the three cards I drew.

Clear as mud hey! I needed a starting point & I knew deep down I had one. Action was needed. I feel my definition of ‘retreat’ was blurred. My original thinking of what a retreat should be was a weekend of pampering, healing, spiritual teaching & yoga. Way too complicated to get organised for a first event. A workshop however is a much ‘simpler’ way to get started. Workshops are still what I would call a ‘retreat’ as people are taking time out of their everyday lives to do something different.

A massive part of my life purpose is to teach. Workshops are a perfect setting to do what I love & use my natural skills to teach a group of like minded people something of interest too us all. I had an idea back in July 2013 to run an introductory workshop all about the Chakras.

The idea stayed in its box until December. Why? Fear was holding me back, fear of not being ready or knowledgeable. A fear no one would turn up or I couldn’t manage it on my own & I needed a team or assistance. The message in my card reading was very clear to overcome this. I just needed to visualise my success. Live like I already have taught a workshop; see it happening again & again. (Just like wrote in Tuesday’s post!)

Keeping myself clear & focused as the third card advises is so important too. When you put yourself out there to the world you are vulnerable, people may attack you or want to knock you down. Staying strong & clear energetically will help. There is a deeper meaning to this card too to remind me after I have taught such an event to disconnect from the energy & cleanse. Workshops are a massive energy exchange I must remember to return to my own energy field once I have shared what was needed.

My fear of not being qualified is one I feel many may have in this situation. I work with my Chakras everyday & in my energy healing sessions. Working with the Chakras consistently should be indication I know enough to teach about them right? There is so much to learn about these energy centres. It’s a subject I’m still learning about too as there are many more Chakras than the main seven. When something new presents that I’ve never come across before I go read up about it. ‘We teach what we need to learn.’ Even more of a reason to get this idea off the ground I feel.

When my business coach asked me to plan my calendar of events the Chakra workshop leapt out at me. This is an event I’m keen to host asap. It is time to take action on this idea.

Now I have! It’s official ‘The Chakras – Introductory two day workshop’ will be taking place on Sunday 16^th & 23^rd February. I decided two days would be beneficial so not to overload everyone in one hit. We learn more efficiently in small doses. When working with energy you never know where it will go & take us who knows the next workshop might be three days.

Not only is this an opportunity for me to share on a subject I’m passionate about I can use all my other skills too. Over the next few weeks I’ll be putting together unique hand out booklets for all the attendees. My design skills will be put to good use & I love nothing more than creating something direct from my own energy.

2013 what a year!

In keeping with tradition as the year comes to a close it’s time to reflect & celebrate. I feel it is important to look back & review. Acknowledging what I have learned will assist in closing loops on lessons & hopefully not repeated. Celebrating my achievements is so important as this will help accelerate me into my next phase of my life plan. Building my self-worth has been a huge theme this year for me. Recognising my success, no matter how small is beneficial.

2013 went extremely quickly. I was warned it would do. In what feels like a blink of an eye it’s December again. This past year has been difficult energetically; there have been many challenges to overcome. With great gain there has also been huge loss. Some people have felt this more than others. For me I have used this chaotic energy to finally break free & soar to my fullest potential.

Here are my 2013 highlights:

Seeing in the New Year in South East Asia.
This time last year I was travelling across Cambodia into Thailand to see in the New Year in Bangkok. The previous week had been amazing absorbed in the culture of South East Asia. I fulfilled my dream of seeing the Angkor Wat temple complex & was blown away by the whole experience.

Learning Reiki healing.
My desire was to learn how to heal myself & understand more deeply how energy impacts our lives lead me to learning Reiki. It was a real light bulb moment being attuned to the Reiki energy. It took me to a new level consciousness. It felt like I was dusting off some very old cobwebs & peeling back more layers to find out why I am here on earth this lifetime. Healing is a natural talent for me that has been engrained into my Soul’s path for many, many lifetimes. Discovering this (through past life healing) assisted me in making some huge life changing choices that I’m so glad I did.

Mastering Mentoring with Elizabeth Peru.
Taking the Master Mentoring program in March accelerated my spiritual development even further. I finally learned to step into my power. Being ‘too nice’ & giving too much away was actually counter productive & making me sad. Recognising my self-worth has been a very important learning curve.

Elizabeth helped me understand it’s okay to look after myself first its called being assertive. We actually need to do this in order to best serve others. This is the key to living an authentic life, staying true to you. Sticking to my boundaries is getting easier. I can say ‘no’ without feeling guilty. The guilt I used to feel because I felt I was letting people down has been replaced with a happy tingle I’m leading by example. I don’t have to be everything to everybody. By saying no I may just open up a space for others to figure out they can simply do things for themselves.

Working knowingly with the Universe.
The greatest lesson I learned is to trust the Universe. We all, every one of us, has this abundant energy source at our fingertips. All we need to do is tap in & use it by simply asking for help. The best part is it is infinite, the source will never run dry. It actually gets stronger the more it is used. Life certainly gets high paced when you’re in the universal flow.

Letting the ‘real’ me shine through.
The ‘real’ me finally cracked through the surface. I had spent too long trying to fit in, doing what I thought was best to please others & keeping my mouth shut. My personal outer image changed quite dramatically. I love my new look.

Every aspect of my life came under review; career, friendships, study, exercise & nutrition. I cleared out what was no longer serving me. The lightness I feel is fantastic. The charity shops did very well from me this year. I’m no longer bogged down by ‘stuff’ or people who don’t lift me to dizzy heights.

Personal wealth is no longer about possessions or how fat my pay cheque is. I measure my wealth on my happiness & the speed I leap out of bed in the morning to start my day. In this respect I’m a millionaire!

Starting my own business
This should really be the number one highlight of the year but I’m kind of working in chronological order! I quit my secure full time job in the city working for people I loved & respected to go it alone. No regrets this decision was by far the best. Living my life on my terms really suits me.

I balance my days between teaching yoga full time, conducting healing sessions & freelance design. I’m so grateful I can start each day sat under a tree in my garden meditating. Using my design skills to help market my business brings me so much joy. ‘I’m’ finally benefiting from my talents instead of giving it all away to others. My working day is long but the hours fly by. I barely notice as I’m having so much fun.

What’s in store for next year?
2014 will be slower paced. It will be a huge year for everybody who wishes to personally develop on a spiritual level. No you won’t all be suddenly finding an urge to get your ‘Om’ on, it just means you’ll be going inside for your answers.

Travel will be on my agenda for sure. There are a few reasons I will need to travel next year for work & for fun. ‘Shoestring, budget & basic’ just channelled through. Basing my adventures around these I feel will bring the best experience & joy.

My intention for next year is “Simplicity.” I feel things need to get simple first that will lead to greater personal success on all levels.
