Sharing Crystals

Hands up who loves crystals?

They are truly magical agreed? Just being in the presence of these sparkling, colourful, & energetic divine beings is uplifting. Crystals make me happy.

There are so many books, websites, courses & information out there we can turn too to find out more about crystals: how to use them, what they mean, healing benefits & what not.

However as I have evolved my views of what I have ‘learned’ are now changing. I am questioning this borrowed knowledge I’ve gathered from others. The external sources are great to get started but it’s the ‘internal’ knowledge where I will now find that I am seeking. The true learning comes from within us.

It is the ways I use my crystals I am now ‘unlearning’ what I have learned. Especially around the whole theory of ‘not allowing others to hold, use or touch’ your personal crystal collection.

“I don’t want other people’s energy being transferred onto my precious crystals”

I hear you say. Allow me to explain further dear one’s.

Crystals are energy bodies that are called upon to help shift stale energies, blocked emotions, enhance healing, bring balance and amplify love. From their work crystals collect & absorb energy from other beings or environments. When crystals are picked up & touched energy can be transferred.

This is where people can get a bit touchy about others getting touchy with their crystals.

I learned early on to ‘not let others touch my crystals.’ A huge big fat NO. I’ve had people literally scream at me whilst admiring (from a distance out of respect) ‘don’t touch my crystal!’
We form bonds with our crystals. They are special & we cherish them, which is lovely. It does seem natural that you may wish to keep them ‘just for you’ especially if you are working on some big stuff with them. This is totally your choice, if you feel this is what you wish to do then please do.

It seemed natural that I myself adopted the same principle. Having a melt down when eager fingers went reaching around my collection. I actually felt nauseous once when someone was getting well involved with my crystals uninvited. When I shared this with another healer she said:

“Just show’s how unconscious they are, *tut*, just helping themselves without permission.”

Hello fear, judgment & negativity those wonderful emotions we all try so hard not to attach too.

“If you touch my crystal then it’s tainted. It’ll have all you junk all over it, what shall I do it’s ruined”

You get the idea.

This notion just didn’t sit well with me; this is not what I’m about. I’m a giver, a sharer & just love getting everyone involved together.

That was before let’s come back to the present moment. I can’t remember when the switch in perspective happened exactly & I don’t think it matters. Now I feel I do not have the right to lock away my crystals & not share them with whom ever is drawn to them. Crystals need to be out there for everyone to experience.

Looking back now I feel I felt nauseous over people touching my crystals because it didn’t feel right to deny the interaction. When life doesn’t flow as it should it gets uncomfortable. I was uncomfortable thinking ‘they shouldn’t be touching’ which was a ‘learned’ behavior from external resources. It wasn’t my true feeling. I actually wanted to hand over the crystals for people to look at & share. ‘Here hold this beauty & feel its energy.’

This is why is it advised to cleanse your crystals often. They are high vibrational beings that we should honour & respect. It’s common courtesy to thank them for their work by making sure they are cleansed & charge. (Just like you feed & water your pets, crystals need looking after too)

Cleansing is so simple & effective. It really isn’t a huge drama. Share your crystals then cleanse them, easy.

Now when I go within my own Soul to ask about this subject it feels so right to share. Actually I feel a sense of joy & love that I am assisting these magnificent beings to do the work they came here to do.

If someone comes into my space & are instantly drawn to picking up every crystal in there then they can. It’s what they need. The crystals are singing to them to be held. They have a job to do & they are far more evolved than I & know what they are doing. The crystals do their work by attracting those they are here to help in this way. Some people may not be open to having a healing session with me but simply holding a crystal they are drawn too (consciously or unconsciously) they see around my house they will receive the energy they need right there & then.

Help yourself to any of these!

I feel now I do not ‘own’ the crystals (or any of the metaphysical ‘tools’) in my care shall I say. They chose me as a caretaker & I brought them home so their work can reach many people. They belong to themselves; I am merely providing a space for them to work out of.

Be free now to have a go with anything in my healing room: crystal, oil, essence, silk, book or oracle cards – if you are drawn to them please use them. I fully trust you will get the healing you need. After all it is your own deep inner wisdom attracting you to the crystal, not me. You are healing & empowering yourself by this self-selection. I am here to hold space & facilitate, it’s in your own power to heal yourself.

Learning to Love Challenges

It’s a great gift to see & seek out the joy in every situation. Even within the dark, messy stuff there is light to be had. There has to be, it’s the law of nature that there is an equal & opposite of everything. Good/bad, black/white, up/down & so on. The challenge is to find the good stuff within what often is a challenge within it’s self.

Following? Let me explain a little further….

A major observation I’ve found by living a consciously aware life is that challenges or tests show up often. More than often actually, it’s kind of constant.

“But why” I sigh, “not again” I cry.

It’s like riding a freaking roller coaster at times. Just as life is sweet, flowing along nicely whoosh down it goes.

Of course it does.

Hello it’s called evolution, moving forward & all part of this wonderful spiritual life we lead. It’s part of the journey or process.

Choosing to live at one with the universe (aka consciously) I need to walk my talk. No good just preaching how good meditation & yoga is for all the Soul if I’m not actually doing these things myself. That is not authentic, it’s just bullsh*tting.

To keep me on my toes & make sure I’m walking this talk of mine the universe sends me wee tests or challenges. You know just to make sure I’m on track. If I’m doing my work & floating around in that Zen zone 24/7 the universe will pitch a curve ball to see if hit a home run or strike out.

Home run: I stay calm, centered & breathing when faced with a challenge exhaling love & rainbows.

Strike out: I fall off kilter, have a melt down, throw my toys out the pram & generally loose my shiz.

The result depends on how big a test I receive & how many times it has shown up before. Challenges will repeat till you get them, again & again & again. What fun!

Can I just say here it’s okay to have meltdowns. I find a minor meltie here & there is actually healthy for me. Again it’s part of the learning curve. It’s good for me to express my emotions this way, as it’s the ‘black’ or ‘dark’ side coming out. Instead of hiding it away, buried deep inside. This is not good as trapped emotions fester & grown into unwanted physical manifestations.

Acknowledging the reaction is important. Okay I reacted wildly but in a controlled & expressive manner that didn’t hurt or offend anyone. That’s that out the way now I can see clearly what blessings the challenge that fueled said reaction has.

Even better when the melt down doesn’t happen at all (home run). The challenge presents, I step back calmly, take a look around from all angles, breathe & look for the gold. This is where I meet the universe half way & say ‘yes I got this, I’m walking my talk.’ Next!

For example there has been lot’s of shifts & changes over the past year with my yoga-teaching roster. I’ve grown to expect this now as the businesses I work for evolve, teachers come & go, things change etc.

If one of my classes changes I’m very cool about it now. Staying calm, not panicking about money or scrambling around looking for other classes that fit my logistics better. If a door shuts it means I now have space to invite something new & fresh in. Opportunities always will present & more often than not they are for the better. How awesome is that?

I’ve done the freaking out bit in this area, now I only react with love & excitement about what new things will step into my life now. Far more easier.

It’s the same with my Reiki training workshops. If I don’t have anyone booked in I don’t go on the big pushy marketing mission to fill the spaces. I keep putting it out there softly till a few days before. (Sometimes people book in literally the day before & I’m ready to receive them) Then trust if no one presents it means I need the weekend off for some well-deserved self-love time. What a treat, a free weekend, totally unexpected, embrace & enjoy. Not worry I should have kept my yoga class or allow ‘I’m not good enough’ self-doubt or ‘but why’s’ to step in.

Be in the flow with the natural ebbs & waves of life. Ride along, not against the current & even with the odd river rock to send you off course, sail on around. Look for the joy to be had in everything around you.

Next time you are faced with a challenge that shakes your boat. Take a look at the bigger picture. Within the perceived doom & gloom there will be some light. Turn bad on it’s head to find the good. See the test the universe has sent you to see how blooming awesome you are doing. Conquer & receive! What an achievement.

Rewrite Your Story

What’s your story?

When I first arrived in Australia partaking in a spot of solo gal travelling I observed everyone had a story. Each was individual giving the owner a reason or purpose to be doing what they were doing. Some stories I encountered were people travelling the world to heal from a breakup, finding space to discover themselves, taking a gap year from school, the last hurrah before marriage & children or celebrating a milestone birthday.

We should be careful not to fall into the trap of our ‘story’ defining us. It reminds me of the movie ‘The Breakfast Club.’ Each character had a label or story. The geek, the jock, the weirdo, the princess & the criminal. Each character played up to these roles at the start, as the movie progressed the ‘real person’ inside started to show through. New stories & friendships formed that were more aligned with each persons true being.

Last week I had a wake up call that I needed to rewrite one of my chapters in my story of life as I was being defined in a way that wasn’t serving me.

Here is why…

Every week I teach one or two early morning yoga classes. My alarm either goes off at 3:45am or 4:20pm. Pretty early hey? Especially when my natural body clock wakes me on a non-teaching morning at around 7:30am without fail. I often get alarm anxiety for these mornings & don’t sleep as well. Checking the clock to see how long I have left to sleep. A yoga teacher’s nightmare is to sleep through & miss the class leaving students locked out.

Once I’m up & had my cup of tea I’m ready for action it’s no problem at all. Teaching two classes with a break in between for Sadhana & breakfast. I’m on form, ready to work & deliver my best. Teaching the morning classes are fun, especially the Friday’s when we get a good crowd of regulars.

It’s just afterwards.

When it hits me.

Hello tired, wiped out feelings of exhaustion. Not even a fresh green juice can save me.

Usually on the drive home, especially if I stop off for grocery shopping or errands, the wave of tired swims in. I’m always telling myself:

“These early mornings kill me, I’m always so drained for the rest of the day.”

I’m actually quite excepting that by 12pm I’ve done my eight hours so it’s normal to want to hit the couch for a nap. However that nap usually fills the entire afternoon, till maybe 5pm. I wake feeling groggy & drag myself up to start making dinner & other things I wanted to do with my afternoon at home. It always feels like such a waste to be sleeping that long. If I don’t nap I walk around in a fog till bedtime.

Time to change!

Manifesting our true desires & creating a life we love from the inside out is something I very much believe in. It can work both ways. Just as we manifest what we want, if we are not careful we can easily attract what we don’t.

That is what was happening for me. Telling myself each week that the early classes drain me just attracted even more of that draining energy to the situation. No wonder I was in a cycle of constant flatness.

I didn’t want to stop teaching at this time as it added variety to my schedule. It would mean I’d never be home at night if I only taught in the afternoon. That would not be a good solution either.

Looking at the situation as a whole everything else I was doing: food, hydration, meditation, exercise & fresh air wise was spot on. The rest of the week I had heaps of energy.

The solution was I needed to rewrite my story by changing my thought pattern about the early morning starts.

Time to focus on the positive aspects of the early shift & pull more of that it. Turn around drained into energized.

I made a list of why I love teaching the early classes:

Teaching class whilst the sun is rising brings in a positive, fresh energy to the day.
The morning students are fun, happy & social.
Big energy classes with focus & lightness.
I have quite time for Sadhana between classes.
After class socializing & lunches.
The rest of the day free for myself, no need to rush off.
Being home at night with The Man.
No traffic drama’s, clear & easy runs.

Lot’s of reasons that teaching in the morning is a positive thing.

Time to rewrite & refocus my attention to these positives. Instead of saying:

“The early classes drain me”

I needed to flip it around to:

“The early morning classes lift me up & give me energy.”

Ahh what a difference this made! Putting positive energy into the situation really worked. Reminding myself how good the morning classes are & instead of hooking into the perceived lows of the aftermath.

Friday was testament to this new way of thinking. I kept saying to myself “I am energised!” I was home by 1pm, ate lunch & took up my usual position in the couch for a rest. Yes I was feeling a little tired but not the usual level of drained. I watched an old episode of Grey’s Anatomy & didn’t fall asleep like I usually would. My 90-minute couch time reviver picked me up even more. I was able to get on with some ‘office work’ for the afternoon. In fact I ended up being awake till well past 10pm without an afternoon nap.

One last step I needed to make was releasing the guilt I had associated with napping all afternoon. Instead of seeing it as a ‘waste of time’ I accepted that the extra sleep would in fact be beneficial to my well-being. If I slept that long my body obviously needed to play catch up. As I said above I’d done my days work just not in the nine to five sense so it was more than okay to have a snooze. My acceptance of napping & releasing the guilt mean I didn’t need to nap after all.

Is there a story in your life that needs rewriting? If something brings you joy but small negative aspects are over shadowing these it’s time to shift focus. Look for the positives in your situation & put your energy there. Above all drop the negative self-talk. Be mindful of your words & thoughts as what you project into the world you will create more of. Here’s to pulling in more of the good stuff.

Marvelous May

Another fast paced month has just whizzed by. May has been a great month for teaching us to slow down on this high-speed ride. I found March & April to have such intense energy by the time May came around I was well & truly done.

With the divine timing of the universe (as usual) I was fully able to take some time out once May rolled around. Even my Aries horoscope from the brilliant Damian Rocks bore the theme of “Contemplate & Retreat.” I headed back to the East coast of Australia for my second working holiday of the year. (Blooming blessed I know, thank you, thank you!)

Boy did I need a change of space to just ‘be.’ Exhaling deeply as I settled into my friend’s house I was sitting & being in gratitude for the opportunity to do so. A beautiful card awaited me, my favourite tea & sourdough bread to make me feel at home.

The pace slowed down as I fell back into my East coast routine of sleeping in late & getting the rest I needed. Eating when I was actually hungry instead of ‘if I don’t eat now I won’t be eating for six hours’ mentality. Walking to work. Observing the changes & strength of my Eastern yoga students & being so proud of each one of them.

May hasn’t been without it challenges. Right on cue Mercury went retrograde nineteen days in. Old dirt arose to the surface, issues I’d run away from showed up (of course!), themes were made & healing began. You can read about my intentions in this post.

In true Mercury style technology had major meltdowns. For someone who does rely on her laptop & Internet connection for work it tested me to my fullest. I took note of the signs. “Okay I have no phone signal or Internet whilst the tower is down for an upgrade. My mac & hard drives are doing the funky chicken so I might as well go walk on the beach.”

Tuning into the universal energy I really could feel it was time to just take it easy. I was blessed with some good distractions to get me away from my desk.

Another yoga teacher visited me that gave me the chance to try my hand at mentoring properly, the way I’d been taught over the past ten months. It was an enriching & rewarding experience. Best of all I was able to practice lots of yoga! Yes I know, doesn’t being a yoga teacher mean you do loads of yoga? Not the style I teach which is dialogue driven so practice is done outside of teaching class. With the combination of quiet classes & a guest teacher to help out I was in yoga heaven once more. My body rejoiced, as did my Soul.

Playing tour guide too (one of my favourite hobbies) was a highlight of my guest visit. Being able to share my cherished local hot spots was bliss whilst eating a lot of homemade Tilba cakes.

A project I’ve wanted to get stuck into for a while came into fruition. The therapy room at the yoga studio that I use for Reiki when I’m here was in desperate need of a makeover. What started as a ‘soft furnishings’ project, turned into a full paint job & more. With the help of my fabulous community we whipped the space into shape. I can’t stop going in there & looking at it, the result is amazing.

Despite having a beautiful new space to practice out of Reiki bookings weren’t happening. This didn’t faze me at all. I knew it was because I needed to give back to myself, take time for me & be alone. Holding space in the yoga room for twelve classes filled my in person service quota nicely.

In saying that distance healing & intuitive reading were booming! Even though I was still holding space energetically I could schedule the sessions at my leisure & even conduct them in my pajamas sat on the bed. Typing up the reports is very rewarding for me as writing is my passion. I can take my time over them as everything is noted down during the session. Hence I can come back to it at a later point if needed.

The final week in May though was huge. The Saturn opposition threw a massive twist on things. I can only describe it akin to walking through glue. Friday 21^st was excellent I was so pumped. By Sunday 22^nd I was flat as: feeling foggy, lethargic, and headachy with no motivation. My body hurt & was stiff. A good sign of uncertainty & hold up for a while.

This is where ‘contemplation’ came in. It was time to review, assess & look back on things.

Was I heading in the right direction?
Is my life on purpose?
Had I been fulfilling my intentions for Mercury Retrograde?
What seeds have I planted for later in the year?

I made sure I’d noted down all my thoughts & ideas.

Slowly as the denser energy lifted the light started to shine brighter. Clients started booking in, Reiki training enquiries were going off & my schedule started filling up into October already!

To finish off the month I did go on retreat. A proper one away from home just for a day at the stunning Mystery Bay. Surrounded by other healers & holistic practitioners I discovered breathwork, tried toning, walked silently as a group to the ocean (where half the group jumped in but not me too cold) & finished with a most fun ecstatic dance session!

What do you get when you put a bunch of sober spirited people together in a room amped up on chocolate? – The wildest sets of dance moves ever!

A perfect day of just ‘being’ & sharing at one with each other. I had many synchronicities occur & messages to follow up on. Thank you to everyone for sharing your divine energy, holding space & loving unconditionally.
