My Blogging Background:

I’ve been blogging for nearly four years. The blog you are visiting now is baby number two. My original blog can be found here. Since I started that blog I’ve changed my creative direction & I felt it more appropriate to start a fresh. You’re reading the result.

Expressing my Soul through the written word is something I love. Writing is a great creative outlet for me. Seren Holistic Lifestyles had been running for about year when I hit a bit of a wall. There seemed to be something missing. I’d reached a point of feeling stuck; a bit lost & had no idea where to go next.

I follow a number of holistic bloggers online who have been a great inspiration to me. Their messages are so strong, relevant & passionate speaking straight from their heart. Each of their posts generates strings of comments & lively discussion. They are all over social media platforms with beautiful photographs, quotes & useful shares. Their work is featured on other websites & blogs, they are literally everywhere. It’s not just blogging they offer interesting products, services & giveaways. Above all they have made hugely successful online businesses & careers from what started out as a simple blog. When I grow up I want to be just like them! (But in my own authentic way of course ;-))

How do they do it?

One blogger on my follow list is Rachel MacDonald from In Spaces Between. When Rachel launched her first online course Bright Eyed & Blog Hearted I signed up immediately, along with 329 other aspiring bloggers. The course was just what I needed to take my blog from mundane to marvellous (I’m still not quite at marvellous yet, one day).

Bright Eyed & Blog Hearted is for anyone who has an interest in blogging in any which way. The ‘Blog Hearts’ as Rach called us, ranged from well-established bloggers whom already had their feet firmly planted in the blog-sphere to those who didn’t even have a name or where to start with WordPress.

Bright Eyed & Blog Hearted covers everything you need to know about starting a blog & taking it as far as you wish. Right up to professional, money earning global tribal community if that is your goal. The content is delivered in an interesting & varied style over eight weeks. Beautifully designed PDF workbooks & worksheets, videos, audio, interviews & of course the private FB group.

One of the stand out parts of the course was the BE & BH Tribe. Everyone is included in the private FB group & is free to post any queries, great finds, technical support or just share the blog love. Within the first two weeks the Perth based blog hearts & I had already met up in person for lunch. We still keep in touch & support each other’s FB pages & blogs. I met another Blog Heart on an interstate trip. We shared a yoga class & breakfast together to swap stories. Finding your tribe of like-minded people is a true gift.

I was in awe that many of my blog super hero’s had signed up too to Blog Hearted. Ladies whose work I think is amazing were all there in the FB group sharing their struggles, win’s, tips & tricks. Gosh it was hard to keep my focus at times & not get all stars struck & gushy.

Rachel is very active in the group too. A true Mamma Bear watching over us all. You will get heaps of support & extra wisdom with Rach at the helm. It’s not a love you & leaves you too it course. Rach is very hands on.

From my experience of Bright Eyed & Blog Hearted I have gained so much:

I’ve taken my blog from bog standard WordPress to self-hosted. This has allowed me more freedom to craft my site with fancy plugins & a custom theme. I feel my site looks more like a professional website than just ‘a blog.’
I have gotten very clear about whom I am, revealing my truth & how I wish to be portrayed online.
Through the workbook exercises I dug deep to discover who my audience is, where they hang out, what they love & the message I wish to convey to them.
I’ve overhauled my entire blog including my about page, professional services & branding.
I now have a media pack including professional bio, head shots & testimonials.
I’ve discovered Instagram – my new love. I’ve learned loads about social media platforms & SEO’s. My FB followers have doubled since BE & BH allowing my voice to be heard wider a field.
My dream is for my blog to keep on evolving & hopefully reach pro status by the end of the year. I’m excited to be expanding my offering further. Watch this space!
Above all I’ve made new friends both locally & interstate. It’s a scary world outline, support networks are so important.

Round two of Bright Eyed & Blog Hearted goes live on Monday 28^th July 2014. The course runs for eight weeks. It’s self-paced; you can take as long as you need to complete each section. New Year, new start is always a popular theme for January. For me I’ve been setting intentions for what I’d like to achieve this year. Of course I am (as we all are) at the mercy of the Universe so you never quite know how the result of your manifesting will present. However the ball needs to be set rolling.

At the start of the year I had so many ideas flying around as to where I wish to take my business this year I came to the point I called out for some extra help. I needed to get out of my own way in order to clearly hear what I was being guided to do next from within myself. It sometimes takes the guidance of another to gently bring you back to the present moment. This is just what I needed.

Through a number of synchronicities the external guidance I was requiring presented. If a pattern suddenly starts to develop around a subject I start to pay attention.

The synchronicities that day lead me to have an Intuitive Guidance & Distance Energy Reading session from Michelle of Sacred Self. I use Sacred Self Alchemical oils in my healing sessions & for my own personal self-cleansing routine. They are truly divine. At a time when I felt I needed someone on the outside to look in & assist me gain some clarity this was my opportunity. It felt so natural & a healing session with Michelle was just what I needed.

It didn’t disappoint. My personally made mandala is stunning. (There are examples on Michelle’s site & FB) It’s full of crystals, oils, cards & mantras. I’ve printed it out & have it right in front of me now. The written report that accompanied it was so accurate & spot on. Every single thing mentioned was confirmation for me to jump & take action. There were ideas I’d thought of months ago but tucked away as insignificant or I let fear or other people’s views stop me following through.

As I was reading I kept saying ‘wow’ Michelle’s good. It might seem strange to hear this but all the information I received wasn’t new or a surprise. “What’s the point then if you were told what you already knew?” I hear you shout. As I said above I was in my own way, too wrapped up to take a step back & listen to the voice within me. That’s when we turn to others for guidance. It sometimes takes an outsider to clearly spell things out to you. Even the most conscious & intuitive beings are always learning.

My intention with the session was to find out the exact area in my life I need to be focusing on this year. I found out just that, not by it being told to me directly “you must do this” but with the ‘clues’ Michelle provided for me to figure it out for myself. It was up to me to then take what was in front of me & apply to my life. be responsible. The greatest gift anyone can receive.

The best part was Michelle provided practical tools to work with for the next few months. Questions to ask myself, meditations to listen too & of course which Alchemical oils would best serve me to move forward.

Grace was perfect for me as the words on the bottle are ‘get out of your own way.’ A really relaxing blend of geranium, sweet orange & lime.

Surrender was my second oil with the strong message to allow myself to feel all feelings. This is a common theme for me right now too to really ‘feel’ what is going on. This is a blend of my two favourite scents Frankincense & Myrrh as well as the very clearing eucalyptus.

I also chose too more oils for myself Clarity & Abundance. Staying clear & open to receive is something I am working on also.

I meditated as suggested with my mandala for an hour each day for three days. It was a very powerful & opening experience. It was just what I needed to assist me onto the next level of progression.
