It’s okay when plans change

Hello there dearest readers. I’m sure by the time this post gets ‘pressed’ it will be way out of my usual posting schedule. Over the past year I’ve been pretty good at showing up on time Tuesday & Thursday every week. Consistency is key to building an online presence, making it easy for those who follow to know when to check in. It also assists in building relationships. But you know what sometimes things just don’t happen the way you planned all the time. That is why I’m posting on a Wednesday!

I’m currently working my way through an amazing online course ‘Bright Eyed & Blog Hearted’ with the super coach extraordinaire Rachel McDonald. I’m learning so much about blogging & running an online business it’s kind of ironic I simply can not get online to implement my course work right now. This site is a visual ‘mess’ (to me anyway!). I’m itching to get to know what I can do now I’m ‘self-hosted’ in WordPress, think custom themes, plugins, spam filters, no adverts!

Over the weekend I struggled to get a post together for today. It’s OKAY though! I’m fine with the way plans & scheduling can change quickly at the moment. I can fully accept that sometimes other aspects of life need to be dealt with first. The ‘me’ of three years ago would have been stressing & straining. Staying up late to bang out ‘something’ to post the next day. The inner control freak would have been beating herself up, feeling like I was letting my readers down by not delivering. Sometimes that approach can create a surprisingly good post. That wasn’t an option this time.

For me now though I don’t want my posts to be forced, ‘mend & make do’ style. It’s not who I am. Everything I post I wish to be authentic, from my heart with meaning & resonance. Not nobbled together just because I need something up on the blog.

That is why part 3 of my Indian Pacific adventure is not up online this week. It’s not even close to being ready. Sure this has upset the flow of a three part series. I could have spent time right now putting that together instead of this post for consistency value. It just didn’t feel right. I felt I needed to let you all know I’m not super women & things do change. And it’s okay to roll with these changes. Especially this past two weeks, things are moving, changing & shifting at an accelerated rate.

Why haven’t I had time to blog?
Since returning from my trip to Adelaide my business has sky rocketed. Everything is the result of my solid efforts, hard work, beliefs & determination. I had three presenting events last week, in person healing sessions, marketing, design work & my usual (but reduced) yoga classes to teach. Hosting a workshop at my house meant cleaning, tidying & preparation needed to be made time for. I simply could not fit in blog writing. A lot of other important paid jobs have been put aside too to this week which is filling up fast as well. It’s fantastic, just where I want to be. I’m so grateful everything is taking off & heading in the direction I wished to manifest. It just means no time for writing.

Guidance
On Monday in my true style I asked my Angels for some quick advice as to my current situation by pulling an Angel Feather oracle card on a phone app I have. I was looking for reassurance that everything, all this plan switching & swapping, was all in my best interests. Here’s what came up:

BUSINESS GROWTH. Enough said. It’s exactly what I had intuited for myself & my mentor had told me so as well. Now my Angels had confirmed my full packed schedule is because my business is growing.

Where is this all leading?
My point here is that it is okay when your planned schedule changes. Just re-prioritize, write lists of what must be dealt with first & cross them of as you go. I have fully trusted the plan changes I’ve had this past fortnight are fully in my best interests. Despite having a major bought of overwhelm getting ready for my speaking commitments (whole new post of that coming soon, eventually in the future!) everything worked out, better than I could have hoped.

How did I deal with all this change?
Just by staying present in that exact moment & dealing with what needed to be done then & there. Not worrying or focusing on what I hadn’t achieved or what was waiting for me later on. All this without running myself into the ground or missing out on all important down time & self-love. Okay I haven’t blogged but writing could still be classed as ‘work.’ Taking the afternoons off after both presentations to sit & chat with a friends for ‘hours’ served me so much better that rushing home to work on my next event.

My message is:
Its okay when plans have to change, let it be, it is what it is right now. Presence is everything. Breathe, smile, relax, give gratitude & surrender to the flow life is.

An Indian Pacific Adventure Part Two

Day Two Monday 21^st April 2014

Sleeping on a train is rather interesting. In India I don’t think I really ever slept on the trains all that well. The train was constantly stopped & starting causing a fair bit of rocking. It was quiet nice actually. I woke up a few times but fell straight back asleep again. My bunk was super comfy. It was made up whilst we were at dinner. Each bed has thick doona & crispy sheets, even a pillow chocolate.

Dinner last night was slightly disappointing after such a good lunch. My entrée of field mushrooms & haloumi cheese was soaked in far too much balsamic vinegar. I feel it had been sitting on the warmer for a long time, as the cheese was bone hard & cold. I appreciate there are a lot of people to serve in a short time but haloumi needs cooking & serving immediately. At least all the courses came quickly. (In Perth last week the average wait for lunch was 40 minutes) My main of vegetable lasagne was nice but was cold sat on top of a searing hot plate. My mum’s roast pork was tough & the crackling inedible as it was cold & dried out. My dad’s lamb was nice, cooked right & warm.

I skipped the Kalgoorlie tour as I fell asleep waiting to arrive. (I’ve been there three times already anyway.) The tour left at 10:30pm for two hours so I opted for an early night instead. Sleeping served me far better!

Breakfast made up for the previous nights dinner. Hot & freshly cooked eggs Florentine, toast, cereals & lashings of tea! Very impressed with this.

We have a few more hours till we cross over to the South Australian boarder. After a lovely meditation back in my cabin it’s time to watch the world go by.

The Nullarbor plains are vast, flat, baron outback bush. Just watching thousands of miles of red land flying by against the blue sky is mesmerizing. The first time I crossed the Nullarbor in a truck I got very motion sick & missed most of it. The next few times I was so doped up with travel sickness tablets I slept all the way. This time it’s great to actually sit back & take in the landscape.

I have a whole day ahead of me now to relax & write. Napping, herbal tea drinking & more eating will feature too. We’re just pulling into the Ghost town of Cook, population of four. Time to get off & get some fresh air!

Highlights:

Being rocked to sleep in my bunk under a thick, snugly doona.
Having a few glasses of crisp WA sparkling wine, a nice treat.
My cabins picture window. It’s right by the fold out table so I can type & view simultaneously.
The hot, freshly cooked breakfast of eggs, toast & tea.
Having a shower whilst moving, kind of fun rocking & rolling having a scrub. (Shower is awesome, hot & powerful, I’m not one for hanging around but I did in this one)
The classical music channel on the sound system, no need to use up my iPod battery.
Turn down & turn up bed service. My bed is made for me whilst at dinner & put away again at breakfast the next day.

Not so highlights:

The air conditioning being on full blast I’m freezing! (Solved by leaving the door open to let some out. Less private but get a view from the corridor window too)
The above is drying out my nose & throat, just like being on a plane. Kleenex is my new best friend.
No fresh air. I’ve been sucking some in from the interconnecting carriage bit but we’re not supposed to loiter there, bit dangerous. None of the windows open. For someone who rarely sits in A/C & is used to fresh air it’s challenging.
Disappointing evening meal.

Day Two continued:

Around 11:30am we pull into the ghost town of Cook. Its only purpose really is a stop for the trains to refuel, dump waste & raise money for the Flying Doctors. We get half an hour to look around the deserted town. We see the old school, swimming pool, houses & gaol huts.

Cook, South Australia. Population: 4 who seem to have a good sense of humour!

I’m itching to get outside for some fresh air. It’s a balmy 27 degrees & the flies are friendly. It’s good to have a walk & suck up some oxygen. Cook is an interesting place, a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. Hard to believe it had enough occupants once to service a school & hospital. Now only the caretakers, a family of four, live there.

Getting back in the A/C doesn’t seem so cold anymore! I shouldn’t complain it’s easier to rug up than cool down & we were told to pack warm tops.

The landscape has changed now we are in SA. It’s getting hilly; the dirt is redder & the vegetation more dense. The young waiter at lunch exclaimed his excitement at seeing the hills “it means I’m getting nearer to home.” The crew members are based in Adelaide, which is the central point for all the interstate rail routes.

Lunch is the same as yesterday & just as nice. There are four choices of mains to choose from. I sample the Tasmanian salmon today. The combination of A/C & planetary activity is bringing on a head cold I’m craving some denser protein. After we’ve eaten we sit a while in the lounge to enjoy a drink & the view.

There are a fair few single travellers on board. The majority of people in the Gold Class are over 50. I am very much in the majority. Our observation is because Australian pension cardholders get a hefty 50% discount on fares it attracts the silver surfers. You can spend the day relaxing reading or kicking back in the bar. I know where my other half would have been happily parked up for the afternoon if he were with us. It’s a safe & luxurious way to travel solo.

Back to my writing & workshop planning. Swing music is on the sound system this afternoon to entertain me whilst I sip my peppermint tea. This is a very decadent way to travel for sure. Soul cup is brimming to the edge.

An Indian Pacific Adventure Part One

There’s something truly magical travelling across a country by rail. Nearly ten years ago I zigzagged India on many over night sleeper trains, weaving my way from Delhi around to Mumbai in just under three months. I’ve never taken an interstate train in Australia so on Easter Sunday 2014 I left my hometown of Perth to head east aboard the Indian Pacific train.

My parents were over from England visiting Australasia for the first time in seven years. I wanted to give them a special experience to remember & to do something new myself. This was the perfect opportunity to do so.

The Indian Pacific travels it’s way from Perth to Sydney via Adelaide twice a week. Its name derives from the oceans it leaves from & departs too – the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Our journey ends in Adelaide, South Australia & will take us just under two days.

Day One – Sunday 20^th April

Leaving Perth at 11:55am right on time from the East Perth rail terminal we check in & are welcomed on board an hour before departure. As usual I have slight stresses about all the rules & regulations over luggage. My on board luggage is 2kg over & is split into three different bags instead of one. No one batters an eyelid or even inspects my bags. However, my check in bag barely weighs 8kg, an all time record for me.

I’m very blessed to be travelling Gold Class in a twin cabin all to my self. (I’m in berth #11 for those who follow Angel numbers!!) My cabin consists of a large sofa type chair which folds out to be the lower bunk. It can easily fit three people very comfortably. I have a compact en-suite with WC, shower & sink, towels, pillows, extra blankets, a safe, cupboard, table, sound system, power points & two fold down bunks. All this just for me! I feel like the Queen of Sheba. There is self-serve tea & coffee in each carriage & filtered cool water. The bar is open from 10:30am & well into the night. Our meals & drinks (including a good selection of local alcohol) are all in with our fare.

After the usual welcome spiels, meeting the train staff, being shown where everything is & booking dinner sitting times etc. it’s time to settle in. I leave my parents in their own cabin two doors down to return to mine to cleanse & clear it. Have Reiki will travel. It’s something I like to do is clear the space I’ll be living in. Especially in a public shared environment like a train cabin/hotel room. You never know who’s been in there before you. Once that is done, it doesn’t take long its time to relax into the experience.

To see if the universe has any guidance for me I pull three oracle cards from my Magical Times Empowerment cards. Destiny, Dreamer & Prosperity comes through. All very appropriate for me right now. Everything I am doing I feel is part of my destiny & I’m on course with my life plan. I’m a huge dreamer. As Einstein said “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” Our outer worlds are created from our inner worlds. Which leads perfectly to prosperity. If I keep following my path life will flow, as it should. I must though make sure I stay positive, as the law of attraction is strong. What you think you become.

Divine guidance for the trip

By this time I’m pretty tired & rather hungry. It’s very unlike me to not have packed any sort of snacks apart from water. The excitement of the morning & the whole adventure must have made me forgetful. Lunch isn’t till 2:15pm so I’m starving! To take my mind of it I meditate. Spread out on the lounge chair, two fluffy pillows under my head, a wool blanket on top & my eye pillow I’m ready to plug in my iPod & get to it.

Wow there is something really special about meditating to the ebb & roll of a train’s motion. Surprisingly I don’t fall asleep. I’ve very conscious & come out extremely refreshed & ready for lunch.

Lunch is served at set times in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant. We’re four cars down & its fairly challenging squeezing through the narrow corridors & crossing the connections between carriages.

We wait for our table (all of 3 minutes) in the comfortable lounge bar. Negotiating walking through the dining car to our table is a task. I nearly end up in someones food. Lunch is three courses. Starting with traditional Aussie damper bread, pepper butter & chilly jam. I select the vego goat cheese & vegetable tart. Washed down with local Vasse Felix sparkling wine. (I’m on Divine orders to let my hair down & be off duty!)

Eating lunch as the Western Australian farmland rolls by is very awesome. Its scary dry out there, brown, sandy & very dead looking. Despite the harsh reality of the season what a view it is. We’ll be travelling through ghost towns, bush & desert, the ‘real’ Australia.

At lunch I manage to spill water everywhere (no it’s not the wine!). Just as I pour we go round a corner. I’m sure the staff are used to it. It must take great skill to be the serve staff on a train with the constant rock & wobble.

Feeling nicely full & replenished I return to my cabin to write. It will take ten & a half hours to reach our first stop for a whistle-stop tour of the mining town Kalgoorlie. Home of the massive Super Pit mine.

My intention for this trip is to take some me time to fill my Soul cup. Four hours in I am already feeling topped up. Quiet time sat at my laptop with presentations to plan & blogs to write, all with amazing scenery rolling by. There is no Wi-Fi & sporadic mobile signal so I disconnect from the world. With a whole cabin to myself I can’t complain. I wonder what’s for dinner?

Highlights:

A very nice, clean & well equip cabin with everything at arms reach to call home for two days
Space for 100% Soul nurturing
A good selection of food on the menu (Only one veggie, unless you eat fish)
Friendly & happy staff
Organic toiletries provided in the bathrooms
Ever changing views of the Australian countryside
Inspiration, inspiration, inspiration!

Not so highlights:

Too good of a light in the bathroom perfect for picking at blackheads. So much for my pre-trip home facial. (Great for plucking over due eyebrow’s though!)

Oracle Card Reading Workshop

One of my many metaphysical past times & passions is giving oracle card readings. Even if you’ve never heard of oracle cards or you might own a couple of decks yourself. Today’s post is for everybody, as I’ll tell you a bit more about oracle cards. I’ve written a previous post here about the Angel Therapy oracle cards I use. That’s how much I like oracle cards!!

If you’re not too sure what oracle cards are here is a brief run down. Oracle cards have been around for centuries & are a form of divination tool. They can assist us in tapping into the divine guidance of the universe to bring clarity to our lives. Often we get caught up in our own heads & can’t hear our inner guides talking to us. Oracle cards work with the law of attraction. Thus what we need to know is drawn to us on an energetic level through the cards we select. They are 100% safe, gentle & easy to use. Nothing sinister or ‘dark’ is involved. Just use the intention of pure love for the greater good & you’ll be fine. Oracle cards are one of my favourite ways to receive extra guidance when I need it.

There are many different types of card decks out there. I am drawn to those themed around Angels, Elemental’s & spirit guide animals. Use your own intuition to guide your choice as to which deck your select to work with. Decks can be combined too if you can’t make up your mind. Just visit your local new age shop or browse popular sites like Amazon, Book Depository or Fishpond.

Just like the decks there are a variety of ways to conduct a reading with different card spreads. Again it depends on the guidance you wish to receive as to how many cards & which layout you select. Spreads range of a single card to a full ten-card life journey spreads.

Surrendering & trusting that the messages I receive from a card reading are exactly what I need is very important. Any fear can get in the way & block the energy flow. Attracting more fear & confusion. Staying open & focused on love & pure intention is all that is needed.

However oracle cards do not give you the magic answer to all your problems. They can assist in clearing the confusion & get your creative juices flowing. More often than not once the cards are drawn I can relate to their messages instantly. How I interpret the messages is up to me though. Even when the same card is drawn over & over depending on the situation in question it may carry a different meaning. This is how you learn to use your own inner knowledge bank aka your intuition.

My interest in oracle card reading lead me to take the Advanced Angel Tarot & Oracle card reading course with Doreen Virtue & Radleigh Valentine. The course was truly fascinating. It went far deeper into interpreting the messages & symbolism in the cards. They aren’t just covered in pretty pictures; there are meanings to be had in the artwork. Tarot reading is quite complex; it would take a lot more than a short blog post to explain.

That is why I’m running a one day workshop all about oracle & tarot cards. I invite you all to join me for this exciting opportunity on Sunday 4th May 2014. A full day to immerse a group of like-minded people with everything I’ve learned & know on the subject. We’ll be going into depth about how cards work, different decks & spreads & learning how to give a reading.
